Keeping your rental clean
When you return your rental you may need to return the car clean. This depends on your host and so please read the car listing description for any details about what condition they expect the car to be returned. Otherwise, if there are no details, please ask your host when you make your booking or pick up the car.
For the interior, you should also ask the owner about their preferences. Make sure to clean out the car of your items prior to returning the vehicle and clean the car where reasonable.
If the car is very dirty on the outside (such as covered in a large amount of dirt, mud, or bugs) and very dirty on the inside (such as large amount of mud and dirt in car mats or soiled seats) then this would be considered reasonable to clean. If the car is returned in such a condition then a cleaning fee may be charged.
Best ways to wash you rental
If you find your rental is dirty, you can wash the car yourself with a set of cleaning products of your choice or use brushless or hand wash services.
You can also take it to the car wash and use the hand tools and brushes to wash the car. If you want to, you can also use a professional service or save some money and do it yourself.
We do not recommend using an automatic car wash to wash the rental as the machine may damage the vehicle.
Other considerations
Sometimes the unexpected may happen when you’re enjoying your rental. An example is vomit in the car. When this happens it is up to your host on how to determine what action is necessary.
If the vomit is easy to clean and/or minor, hosts can decide whether or not to charge a cleaning fee. This can be made in the form of an extra payment to the booking.
If the vomit is major and requires either intense cleaning or special cleaning services, this can be classified as minor damage if the cleaning/repairs is less than $300 and your host will send through an extra payment request.
