evee provides standard insurance coverage similar to other car rental companies to ensure our customers have the basic coverage to enjoy their EV journey.
Your Protection
With evee’s standard coverage, you are protected when you are involved in an accident with or without a third-party involvement. All vehicles you rent through evee have rental insurance included in the booking price. This provides you with less time with headaches and worries and more time to enjoy your EV rental.
Windscreen cover is not included in the standard insurance from evee but is covered when you take up RentalCover. Please have a look at our article "Extra Protection (Optional)" for more information.
Damage Liability
Our vehicles come with variable damage liability depending on the vehicle type. You can optionally choose to add on RentalCover to reduce the damage liability if you have an accident. For more information about RentalCover on evee, check out our article “Extra Protection (Optional)”.

Insurance Requirements
Rentals on evee several insurance related requirements and considerations.
Our vehicles have a driver age restriction either 25+ years old for our standard vehicles and 30+ for our performance vehicles. Exemptions can be made if you are turning 25 within a month of when your booking commences.
Additional requirements are also seen in our driver’s declaration that you will fill out when making a booking. These will ask specific questions relevant to assess your driving history to determine eligibility to drive our rentals.
Late pick-up and return
We know things happen, so if you are early to pick up or running late to return the car, get in contact with the owner via the platform or SMS to let them know. This way you make sure your insurance will cover any extra time even if a late return fee is applied. If you do not contact the owner, you risk not being covered by insurance.
If the unthinkable happens and you are involved in an accident, contact the owner immediately or evee’s emergency contact (02) 5564 0003. Make sure you get all the details of the other parties involved and take photos of the damage just like you would if you had an accident in your own vehicle.
Security deposit
evee also authorises a security deposit as part of your booking. This deposit is similar to a bond and held in the event of reported damage.
The security deposit is authorised on your card 24 hours before the booking starts and released 48 hours after the end of the rental unless new damage is reported to the car. It can take 5 - 10 business days to disappear from your account depending on your bank. The security deposit amount varies depending on the type of vehicle. Please have a look at the car listing page for exact value.
The security deposit is captured if your host reports damage and held until the matter is resolved. Please read our “Damage Incident Process” for more information on how evee resolves damages to rentals.
